On Saturday, April 18, Volunteer Muskegon, a United Way affiliate, will host its annual Vin Vendue wine tasting and auction in downtown Muskegon.
Vin Vendue Held in the Hilt Building
Vin Vendue has become a popular annual event on the lake shore. As interest grows, the agency has had to move the event to accommodate more guests as well as new exhibitors and vendors. The last couple of years the event has been held in the Hilt Building which is adjacent to the Frauenthal Theater. The Hilt Building allows the event to be spread over three separate rooms providing for more walking space as well as seating and eating stations.
Exhibitors/Vendors at Vin Vendue Muskegon
This year's event will feature over 85 wines from all over the world. Attendees can also sample non-alcoholic beverages such as natural sodas, along with a few types of beers. Both local and national restaurant chains will provide tasty cuisine and dish samples. A few of the restaurants participating in the event this year include the Muskegon Athletic Club (MAC), Red Robin and the Mainstreet Pub. Sweet treats will be provided by Happy Endings Bakery and Aunt Sallie’s Cheesecakes.
Live Auction
Celebrity host Britta Cleveland of radio station Star 108 will assist Nick Beyer (of Beyer Auction Service) with the live auction. Items up for auction this year include both a Chicago and Milwaukee vacation package, golf passes at Treetop Resorts in Gaylord, and a variety of wine collections.
Silent Auction
Vin Vendue offers something for bidders in almost every price category. Volunteer Muskegon's silent auction allows attendees to bid on items such as concert/theater tickets, gift baskets, passes to local sporting events, handmade afghans/blankets and other wonderful items.
Hotels/Lodging in the Greater Muskegon Area
Lodging in downtown Muskegon is very limited; nonetheless, one can consider staying at the Holiday Inn which is directly across the street from the Hilt Building. More lodging options however exist on the outskirts of the city, especially around the Lakes Mall in Fruitport Township. Hotels in the Fruitport area include the Fairfield Inn, Amerihost Inn and Hampton Inn.
Other Places to Visit/Things to Do While in Muskegon
Located on lovely Lake Michigan, guests to the Muskegon area must visit the Pere Marquette beach no matter the season. Other places to visit while in town include the Hackley and Hume Historic Sites, Muskegon Museum of Art, Lakes Mall and the USS Silverslides.
