When visiting the Lansing area, consider a cruise along the Grand River. The Michigan Princess is known statewide for its quality riverboat cruises. It is an ideal outing for families and groups. Each cruise offers live entertainment such as theater, bands and other musical acts. Additionally, most offer a buffet style lunch or dinner. Some popular menu items include barbecue ribs, roasted turkey, mashed potatoes/gravy, sweet potato casserole, vegetarian lasagna, soup, salad, apple pie, coffee and iced tea. After dinner, guests can relax on the outside deck of the lower level, or go up second or third levels for better views.
Depending upon the package, cruises may last as short as an hour and a half, or as long as six hours.
Seasonal Cruises
Seasonally, the Michigan Princess offers festive cruises. This includes fall color cruises in late September and early October, as well as holiday celebrations for Mother's Day, Father's Day and Halloween.
Musical Cruises
The Michigan Princess also features an array of musical entertainers throughout the season. In addition to river bands, cruises may also highlight big bands, salsa, tropical tunes, rap and heavy metal groups. Retro themes are also popular on the Michigan Princess. Enjoy cruises centered around music from the 50's and 60's, 70's and 80's and more.
Dance cruises are also common aboard the Michigan Princess. These evening cruises begin around supper time and continue until midnight. During the cruise, guests are encouraged to dance the night away with music provided by local bands or disc jockeys.
Other Cruises
In lieu of musical entertainment, cruises may also feature dramatic skits and theatrics such as the mystery dinner cruise.
Prices for cruises will vary based upon menu, dates and entertainment. Tickets range from $10 (for cruises with concessions and cash bar only) to $46 per adult (for lunch or dinner cruises).
Special Events
Lastly, the riverboat can be rented for special events and occasions such as weddings, receptions, anniversaries and reunions. Groups and non-profits should also consider the Michigan Princess for future fundraising ventures.
